Stream Short Dramas Hits Online Cost and Plans

Past the Brands Everybody Knows

This segment gives nearly all of its coverage to five apps: ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax, My Drama and DramaWave. They are the reference point here, and they are not being reviewed again. Most people misjudge the layer below them, which is deeper than it looks. At least one short drama app in it beats all five on downloads. The App Store and Google Play listings for every name below were worked through on September 23, 2026. A marketing team cannot inflate publisher names, launch dates or download totals, and that is why Bound by Honor short drama those dull entries matter. Where the two stores disagree, I give both. Where a line gets repeated without a primary source, it is marked unverified.

The Second Tier at a Glance

A pair of points on the columns first. Because Google Play publishes installs in buckets, 10M+ and 100M+ function as bands rather than tallies, and an app sitting at the bottom of a band can be far smaller than one at the top. Launch dates here come out of the listings, which frequently log the iOS and Android releases weeks separately. A cell that says not reported signals the number was not in the listings or the published data I went through. An iOS-only app has no Google Play number to give, which means that blank is real rather than an oversight. Because all seven serve up short dramas in the same vertical format, the table sticks to the paperwork and leaves the shows alone.

App Publisher as the store listing gives it Launch Google Play download band What is notable
NetShort NETSTORY PTE. LTD. July 22, 2024 100M+ Number three worldwide by downloads in Q1 2026, based on Sensor Tower figures
FlexTV YUDER PTE. LTD. October 2022 10M+ Oldest of the apps here
MoboReels CHANGDU (HK) TECHNOLOGY LIMITED on iOS; MOBOREADER TECHNOLOGY USA on Google Play June or July 2023, depending on the store 10M+ Two publisher names, one app
Kalos TV Storyverse Co., Limited September 2023 5M+ The smallest here; the Kuaishou link that keeps circulating is unverified
TopShort Han Book Pte. Ltd., developer name JoyHunter June 2023 Not reported; iOS confirmed only One app holding novels and drama
FreeReels Kunlun Tech Not reported Not reported Number one in the world for downloads in Q1 2026, according to Sensor Tower numbers
GreatShort Intelligent Journey Inc Not reported 10M+ Presents itself as free of subscriptions

NetShort

In truth, NetShort probably does not belong in a second tier at all. Its Google Play publisher is NETSTORY PTE. LTD., and the store page captures a release date of July 22, 2024. Which means it is younger than DramaBox, ShortMax and My Drama. It has still made it into the 100M+ download band, the same band as ReelShort and DramaBox. The most solid third-party figure on this page is its Sensor Tower ranking, third worldwide by downloads in Q1 2026. In the revenue tables it has no matching place, because DramaBox and ReelShort sat level at about $140M each that three-month stretch. Downloads and money are separate contests, and NetShort is currently winning one of them.

FlexTV

As the long-timer here, FlexTV gets less attention than its age merits. Both store pages name YUDER PTE. LTD. as the publisher and point to an October 2022 debut. That is about two months after ReelShort and half a year before DramaBox. It sits in the 10M+ download bucket, which is a full band below NetShort. On its own, a head start in this market has plainly not been worth much. FlexTV reads as a stable drama app rather than a growing one, which makes four years of banked episodes its real selling point.

MoboReels

MoboReels takes the longest to pin down. The App Store vendor of record is CHANGDU (HK) TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, while Google Play names MOBOREADER TECHNOLOGY USA. Two firm names in two legal territories as a result sit on one app. Common in this category, split naming is not a warning sign by itself, but it does rule out the developer entry as a quick identity check. On the launch the stores also disagree, putting it in June or July 2023. At 10M+, its installs sit in the same band as FlexTV and GreatShort. If you install it, note which store took your money, because refund requests go to Apple or Google rather than to one company.

Kalos TV

Kalos TV is the smallest app here, sitting in the 5M+ band. Its publisher is Storyverse Co., Limited, and both stores date the debut to September 2023, the month ShortMax arrived. The interesting part is what the store listings leave out. Online it is routinely characterized as a Kuaishou project, and its Android package name carries a kw prefix that readers treat as proof. Neither listing confirms any link to Kuaishou, and I could not verify one from a primary source. A fragment of a package name is a hint and not a chain of ownership, so treat any article that states it flatly with doubt.

TopShort

TopShort stands out, since iOS is the only place I could confirm it exists. Han Book Pte. Ltd. is the App Store seller, JoyHunter is the developer name and the debut is given as June 2023. The pitch is novels and drama together, which puts it in the same tradition as GoodShort. That combination is the reason to try it. Anyone already following serialized web fiction will know the back catalogue logic and the source material behind the screen versions. Because I have no Google Play band for it, I am not going to extrapolate its size from a single store.

FreeReels

FreeReels pairs the best headline number on this page with the thinnest filings behind it. First globally by downloads in Q1 2026, according to Sensor Tower, which puts it ahead of everything else here and ahead of the five famous apps. Kunlun Tech owns it, and the same group is behind DramaWave, which Media Partners Asia credits with about 13% of the microdrama market outside China. So a single firm owns the download leader and a top-five revenue app at once. That is worth remembering whenever this market is characterized as a two-horse race. I recorded no launch date or download bucket for it, which is why you should open the store page and read the purchase list yourself.

GreatShort

GreatShort is a real Android app from Intelligent Journey Inc, and Google Play puts it in the 10M+ band. Its pitch is unusual, because the store copy says the app is free, with “no subscription and no hidden fees”. That assertion is the publisher’s own, made in its own store listing, and not a finding I confirmed by taking an account through a full series. Start testing it in the in-app purchase section of the store page. Because pricing changes here without warning, a blurb written in September 2026 is a snapshot rather than a promise. For anyone who refuses to leave a weekly pass running, GreatShort is the natural first stop if the statement holds up.

Which Ones Deserve a Look

On what the store pages support, NetShort is the first download, and it has the size and the printed ranking to justify it. FreeReels is second on the same logic, plus a parent outfit with a real record in the category. FlexTV is third, and it is the one I would open to graze rather than to follow a new release. TopShort earns a place only for iOS users who read web novels, where the combined library is a bona fide difference. Nothing in their own listings gives a reason to pick Kalos TV or MoboReels over the larger ones, since both are plain apps. GreatShort is worth ten minutes to see whether its no-subscription statement holds up to contact with a paywall. The five major apps and their official channels still serve anybody who just wants to watch dramas online without a new install.

Where the Name Is the Only Real Thing About It

In this rung the remaining trouble comes from search, not from software. Brand-looking phrases are frequently only typos, so real short, reel shorts and realshort all resolve to ReelShort, put out by New Leaf Publishing. Two of them now land somewhere real, since great short as two words reaches GreatShort and free reel reaches FreeReels. New launches turn dead-end searches into live results, which is how the wrong download happens. Store search does not protect the short tv style of title either, and a number of unrelated developers publish near-identical names. MoboReels runs the other way, one genuine app under two publisher names, and TopShort is a third case, an iOS-only app leaving an Android gap other titles fill. Fixing it takes five seconds: ignore the icon, read the publisher entry, check the download band, and open the in-app purchase list before deciding that a shorts app is the one you wanted.
